Your entire mobile project will flow from your budget and timeline. Companies often don’t know how much to dedicate to a mobile project, or how long they should expect it to take, and this can cause paralysis when trying to budget for a project or a series of projects.
As part of PointAbout’s pre-development phase, we help clients estimate the cost and level of effort of their mobile projects. We often do this by entering into a small engagement to complete the necessary steps of the Process Funnel. The end result of this process is a Software Requirement Specification (SRS) document, a technical document with use cases and wireframes that outline an app’s expected behavior. Think of the SRS as your “cookbook,” with carefully measured ingredients for your mobile project. Only after the SRS is complete will you (or anyone) be able to accurately determine what the cost of the project will be.
Sometimes companies are reluctant to dedicate upfront money to create an SRS. In reality, this is the wisest, most efficient use of funds possible for the initiation of an enterprise-grade mobile project. Poorly defined projects are by definition going to be poorly executed. PointAbout’s Process Funnel was created based on deep experience spearheading mobile projects.
