Quantcast, a measurement and web analytics firm, concluded Android is slowly and steadily increasing its share of mobile web consumption.
Android has captured a 25% share of total mobile web consumption, while Apple has declined from 67% in May 2009 to 56% in August. Quantcast is forecasting an equal share between iOS and Android in about a year, but only if the current trend stays relevant between the two frontrunners (Google and Apple).
Looking at the platforms from a global view, statistics gathered from Net Applications (another web measurement company) concluded that devices running the Android platform accounted for 0.2% of all hardware on the internet last month. Mobile devices running Apple’s iOS (iPad, iPod, iPhone) took first place with a 1.1% share, clearly dominating the mobile web when looking at the larger picture.
