The Pew Research Center, along with American Life Project conducted a survey, which sought to evaluate the mobile Internet use of Americans. It was found that 6 out of 10 American adults go online either wirelessly via their laptop connection or by using their Smartphones.
The survey disclosed that 40% of Americans adults use the Internet, email or instant messaging on a mobile device, while nearly half of all adults or 47% go online with a laptop using a WiFi connection and a mobile broadband card (up from 39% who did in 2009). This undoubtedly proves that Americans have increased both their mobile online connectivity as well as their interactions.
Other attention-grabbing findings included the fact that 38% of Americans access the Internet on their mobile devices and 34% play games. Overtaking those game players, 76% take photographs, while 72% send or receive text messages. Even more amazing, the Pew Research Center confirmed that on a daily basis, over 55% of mobile phone Internet users go online. Moreover, mobile phone owners ages 30-49 are interacting more than ever with their phones, looking to do such tasks as take photographs, access the Internet, record videos, send emails, play music, and instant message.
It’s no secret; Americans are becoming more dependent on their Smartphones functioning as their laptops and desktops. This is an ongoing trend with what seems to be no end in sight.
