(Want to see what a video looks like when taken with this device? Take a look at one here and also here.)
While PointAbout’s main business is creating a software application, we’ve had a lot of demand for the device we use to take videos and show the phone on a big screen (projector, TV, etc.), so we’ve contracted with a company to create these devices to make them available to you.
Our “phone2projector” device costs $79.99 plus the cost of any cradles for your specific phone. You can see it in action on many of the videos on our website.
You’ll need to provide your own camera. We use a Canon SD900, but just about any digital camera that has a video output will work. Make sure to read the tips below about setting your camera up.
If you would like to order a phone2projector, please contact us at right.
We also offer phone cradles for various phone models. They will velcro onto the phone2projector. Please tell us which cradle you want, and how many of each:
- iPhone plastic cradle (specify 1st or 2nd generation) – $4.99
- BlackBerry plastic cradle (Bold, Curve, or Pearl) - $4.99
- HTC G1 Android plastic cradle - $4.99
- If you would like a cradle not listed here, please specify your phone. We will custom-order it for $9.99.
Notes about using the phone2projector:
- Make sure that the camera you use has a “macro” video mode. Cameras without macro video mode won’t work. Make sure you put the camera into macro video mode when you start filming.
- Every camera is different, but on the Canon SD900 that we use, we have to be recording in order for the camera to not time out and shut off.
- The camera screw is adjustable via wing nuts, so you can get the camera centered exactly above the phone.
